Heath Golf & Yacht Club

Spotlight on Community

Groundbreaking Festivities

There's been a lot of speculation and chatter about Bayside in Rowlett, a 262-acre mixed use development spanning the Dalrock exit off I-30. But you don't hear all that much about an 800-acre development just around the corner, Heath Golf and Yacht Club. Maybe that's because it doesn't have a major highway crossing over it and that's definitely a good thing.

Developer Rob Whittle has been nursing a dream for more than two decades. On Tuesday he was able to celebrate the official ground-breaking of his vision, but he'd been breaking ground on this plot of land for a long, long time.

A Community Legend

Rob Whittle Celebrates Groundbreaking

If you live in Rockwall County, you probably know or have at least heard about Rob Whittle. At the very least you've seen the Whittle Development signs sprinkled across the landscape. Have you been to The Harbor? Whittle Development! Have you played a round of golf at Buffalo Creek? Whittle Development! Pretty much everywhere you go, there's something that Rob Whittle and his imagination have created.

Rob's cracked a lot of eggs for all this omelet-making and everyone has not always been happy with his eggshells, but the great thing about Rob is that he's going to keep on loving this county and everyone in it - and he's not going to get discouraged. As dignitary after dignitary came to the podium, they'd begin with what an important contribution the development will be to Heath, but they wouldn't sit down until they'd commented on Rob and his unflagging determination to turn his vision of a luxury golf community on the shore of Lake Ray Hubbard into a reality.

A Legendary Community

So what is Heath Golf & Yacht Club? At its core will be one of the most amazing golf courses ever built in Texas. Golf course legend Roy Bechtol will see to that. But golf is just part of the charm. Tennis, swimming pools, boating, luxury clubhouse and more, will all be available.

The community and its clubhouse will look out on Lake Ray Hubbard - far enough away from the hubbub of the I-30 bridge to offer serenity to the 1200 homes, but close enough to allow a reasonable commute to Downtown Dallas. Whether it's a family is looking to build a custom luxury home or a couple of seniors looking to downsize their living, there will be something for everyone. The community features these builders, Dunhill, Rendition, Gehan and of course, Rob Whittle's own Whittle & Johnson Custom Homes.

Put It on Your Map

If you live in Heath, then you've been watching this development take shape for more than a decade, but people outside of Heath may not have even heard about it. If you're among those who are unfamiliar with Heath Golf and Yacht Club, put it on your map. Come to Heath and visit. It's just around the corner from City Hall on Bois d'Arc. Even if you've known about the development all along, maybe it's time to drive through. See the beautiful homes being built, the new elementary school, the gorgeous clubhouse and dream of living in a beautiful place like this.

Spot On Images principals, Bill and Jane Sadek, were thrilled to be included on the guest list for this important event and we wanted to share the excitement of this development with you.
